Well, the cake you eat at birthday parties and Cake the rock band! Not only is Cake a really cool band, but they are taking an environmental initiative by recording their sixth album entirely on solar power. They  installed a photovoltaic solar system on their recording studio which provides 100 percent power to the entire facility.

Billboard Magazine has award Cake the title of one of the greenest bands on the planet. They rank number three  after John Legend and Radiohead.

Kehoe is a self proclaimed green activist and thought to install solar panels both for economic and environmental reasons.

Little did Kehoe know, that the company he hired was inexperienced and to top it off, the company had never installed a solar system before! Kehoe’s company put on a good show and he thought he got a great deal. Kehoe had a 2,000 watt solar photovoltaic system installed on the roof of his house. Shortly after the installation, Kehoe discovered, through a series of unfortunate events, that the installation was not done correctly.

When Kehoe’s utility bill reflected only a percentage of the potential savings he was told he would reap, he had a suspicion something was wrong. It only got worse from there –  faulty wiring, roof reinforcement and unsafe electromagnetic radiation costs Kehoe more money.

Most recipients simply throw the book into the trash (hopefully the recycle bin) without even glancing at it or placing it in their homes.

We recently came across the site www.yellowpagesgoesgreen.org So, we tweeted about the site and guess what? It was one of our highest clicked tweets! People want to opt out from receiving the yellow pages!

Did you know that over 500 million yellow/white paged books are printed each year? According to Yellowpagesgoesgreen.org:

To produce 500 million books:

  • 19 million trees need to be harvested
  • 1.6 billion pounds of paper are wasted
  • 7.2 million barrels of oil are misspent in their processing (not including the wasted gas used for their delivery to your doorstep)
  • 268,000 cubic yards of landfill are taken up
  • 3.2 billion kilowatt hours of electricity are squandered
