Among the sponsors are New Balance, Goody, Garmin, Horizon Fitness, Carolina Pad and SKY Engineering, Inc. who is a Fall Season Sponsor and a Presenting Sponsor of the 5K Run and Healthy Living Expo.

“LED technology outperforms other lighting such as CFLs, and the cost of LED lights has come down,” said SKY Renewable Energy Director of Sales Christine Kelly. “Through city programs and utility programs, SKY Renewable Energy commercial and residential customers can change out their lighting and offset some of the costs with rebate money.”

SKY Renewable Energy offers home and business energy optimization for residential and commercial properties. A SKY Engineering representative will inspect your property for energy inefficiencies and share recommendations with you to make your space greener.

“Reduce before you produce,” said Kelly. “During that inspection, we will also evaluate your lighting.”

Advances in LED technology will now allow this type of lighting to burn brighter and last longer than CFL. According to the web article, Will LED Light Bulbs Best Your CFLs and Incandescent? (Popular Mechanics/August 2010), the author states that, “Improvements in managing the LED chip’s temperature have contributed to their marathon life span: LEDs can last up to 50,000 hours, more than eight times as long as CFLs.”

Rebates for renewable energy vary depending upon where you are located. For businesses in and near the light rail corridor, the city of Phoenix is offering rebates for LED lighting that can be added to existing energy rebates for which you may already be eligible for. This is part of the Energize Phoenix program recently launched by the city of Phoenix in partnership with Arizona State University and Arizona Public Service with $25 million federal grant money from the U.S. Department of Energy Better Buildings Neighborhood Program and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

LED lighting isn’t just for your home and business. According to the City of Phoenix Public Works Department in an energy presentation made in April 2011, over 335 intersections of the city had LED traffic signal retrofits with a phase two beginning in 2012 to add over 500 more intersections that are retrofitted.

Contact SKY Renewable Energy today to learn how you can use LED lighting in your home or business. Representatives can also assist you with the energy rebate process and identify the types of rebates for which you qualify for. (602. 595.4178)
